AT THE ANTICO CASALE DI BOBBIO
Hi, we are Gian Luca e Marina,
and this is the story of a beautiful madness.
For twenty-five years we lived in Milan, immersed in two fulfilling careers, each in our own world, with the frenetic pace that only those who have truly lived in that city can understand.
From a professional point of view, we had no complaints, quite the opposite.
But life was moving fast, too fast, and we kept noticing that time for ourselves, for our family, for our daughter Carlotta, was never enough.
Then one day, without a precise plan, without a spreadsheet weighing up the pros and cons, we looked in the same direction together and asked ourselves: what if we changed everything?
No sooner said than done. Or almost.
Bobbio was not an obvious choice. When we decided to leave Milan, our hearts were pulled in two directions: lLiguria, where I was born and grew up until the age of twenty-seven, or Bobbio, where Marina had her roots.
In the end, Bobbio won, helped along by the house we already had here, which had started out as a holiday retreat and then grown alongside us over the years, almost as if it were preparing itself for what it would one day become.
A sign of fate? Perhaps.
Or perhaps simply the confirmation that certain places choose you, before you ever choose them.
At first, we admit, settling in was not entirely straightforward: leaving a metropolis after a quarter of a century leaves its mark.
But then something changed.
The people, the pace, the landscapes — everything began to speak to us in a way that Milan, for all its charm, had never managed to do.
Today Bobbio is our home, in the fullest sense of the word. We have reconnected with old friends and made new ones, and we often struggle to remember who belonged to which group, a sure sign that things are going in the right direction.
Our passions? Travel, the world is there to be explored, always. Friends gathered around a table that stretches on forever. Ski slopes in winter. And in spring and summer, the motorbike: bends, climbs, fresh air and views that still take our breath away even after all these years, because here, when it comes to landscapes that leave you speechless, there is always something new to discover.
The Antico Casale di Bobbio was born from all of this: from the desire to share what we have found.
Not just a place to sleep, but a place to slow down, breathe, and feel at home even when you are away from home. Exactly as it happened to us.
